"Stolen from my subconscious," based on a historical incident of 1936.

Salvador Dalí is the first big international surrealism exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in New York invited (Fantastic Art, Dada and Surrealism). Joseph Cornell at the same time presents a surrealistic masterpiece film Rose Hobart in the famous Julian Levy Gallery. Dalí attended the premiere and falls during the demonstration into a violent agitation. He calls "salaud," and even crashed at the end to the movie projector. As he later asked what had gotten into him, he said, Cornell would have done exactly the movie he wanted to Dalí, always. Cornell, the villain would have stolen it from Dali's subconscious!

Gio 'Marconi New & Old Bridge present

Rosa Barba Anna Ostoya
Exposures

Gallery II:

Tom Burr
: Black Lab and Oblong Box #2

Opening March 1st, 2011 6-8pm

Bortolami Gallery is pleased to present the first New York solo exhibition of works by the Polish artist Anna Ostoya. The show will feature a series of new works on canvas entitled Exposures that were all made during February 2011. For this series, Ostoya staged a durational performance. Each day, she began a new work with the aim of finishing 28 canvases-as many as there are days in February-by the time of the opening on March 1st.

Conceived in response to the Bortolami Gallery's invitation, Exposures depends on pre-determined limits. They were realized not only through the temporal restrictions of her daily regimen, but also through the physical restrictions of the 20 x 24 inch canvases on which she worked. Other materials included newspaper and internet images, papier-mâché, gold leaf, and acrylic paint. Moving between her kitchen and studio, Ostoya made papier-mâché from unused papers creating compositions that operated somewhere between meticulous planning and improvisation. The scheduled time-too little for either lengthy reflection or extensive revision-became a test of her artistic efficiency and an experiment in creative manufacture. Performing like an udarnik (a super productive worker in Communist states), she attempted, in paradoxical fashion, to recapture enthusiasm and genuine spontaneity through disciplinary constraint. Exploring the tension between representation and abstraction, each canvas is marked by the day's events and shaped by Ostoya's creative responses. Through the combination of cheap paper and gold foil, she opened the work to questions about economic and ethical values, and through her accelerated timetable, she aligned her practice with industrial modes of cultural production.

Ostoya's multi-media practice includes collage, painting, sculpture, and sound. Conceptually grounded, her work cuts through different art historical traditions and styles in order to elide prevailing fashion that endangers the critical and reflective potential of art. Rejecting the commonplace opposition of aestheticism and anti-art, Ostoya offers aesthetic objects that repeatedly direct the viewer towards the historical and institutional contexts of the work. Previous projects by the artist dealt with the subjects of violence and war, avant-garde histories, and the contemporary information glut. Anna Ostoya was born in Krakow in 1978. In 2009, she graduated from the Whitney Independent Study Program in New York. Ostoya's work has been exhibited at Tegenboschvanvreden in Amsterdam (2011); Galeria Foksal in Warsaw (2010); Center for Contemporary Art Kronika in Bytom (2010); the Center for Curatorial Studies, Bard College, Annandale-on-Hudson (2010); Lisson Gallery, London (2009); and Car Projects in Bologna (2009). She participated in Manifesta 7, Rovereto and the 2nd Athens Biennial. Upcoming exhibitions include a solo show at Silberkuppe in Berlin and a group show, Rearview Mirror, at The Power Plant in Toronto. She lives and works in New York.
Tom Burr 's work may currently be seen at the FRAC Champagne-Ardenne in France. Recently, he has exhibited works in a two-person show (with Monica Bonvicini) at the Museum für Gegenwartskunst, Basel; as a part of 'Rachel Harrison: Consider the Lobster and other Stories' at the Hessl Museum at Bard College; in 'The World is Yours', curated by Anders Kold at the Louisiana Museum in Denmark; in 'Moby Dick', curated by Jens Hoffman at the CCA Wattis Institute for Contemporary Arts, San Francisco, and in the exhibition 'Saints and Sinners,' curated by Laura Hoptman, at the Rose Art Museum, Brandeis University. He has held solo exhibitions at The Sculpture Center in New York, Vienna Secession, and Museé Cantonal des Beaux-Arts de Lausanne. Burr lives and works in Norfolk, CT and New York. info@bortolamigallery.com or 212 727 2050.

'An Anna Blume'

(1919) is the most successful sound poem from the 'Merz' series of the German Dada artist Kurt Schwitters
(1887-1948)
It was on the ground of the syllable 'Merz' from the word 'Kommerz' that Schwitters developed an aesthetic both of collage and of phonetic, textual, and graphic segmentation that became one of the key contributions to German Dada. The original poem
'An Anna Blume'
comprises shrill and ludicrous exclamations and simultaneously reveals a florid homage. It  was received as a hybrid between a parody of a love poem, an emblem of the chaos and madness of the era, as well as a harbinger of a new poetic language.   In the legacy of Schwitters and his 'Merz' concept the exhibition 'From Anna Blume'  presents young Berlin-based artists who work in the 'Merz' aesthetic of fragmented sound, text, and visual collage. In today's artistic practice, collage art is omnipresent. Ranging from photo-based to paper collages onto installational assemblages, artists work in this medium and reveal the variety and multiplicity of histories, cultures, and influences that shape our contemporary society. This show presents a selection of female artists who work in this very medium. Similarly to the attempt of Kurt Schwitters to portray the chaos of his times, the artists in this show use the collage as a means of expressing emotional, formal, historical, and political interests and tendencies or aim at distorting and challenging the viewer's perception. Instead of being the passive object of admiration and enabler of Dadaist poetry as the imaginary character of Anna Blume in Schwitters' poem, in this exhibition women artists act as agents through their work.     Curated by Sandra Teitge

Mi Paste And Removal Of White Spots

Defender 2 Body Armor Replica Review

Today there is a very special treat:

The 6-piece package of superb Chinese Klonkunst of the house "Snak" (www.wargame.cc) is definitely a treat for all the want to spend less than 4000 $ for a orginale Fort Defender 2! On average you get those copies for about $ 150 in Europe, but they are for almost twice traded to the rarity of this chic items!

The use of Velcro, at this Replica almost continuously .. almost everything looks tacked on, and festgeklettet velcrofixiert!

The Armor was of course completely without plates and can, depending on the desired fully extended with self-made sheets of foam, wood, metal or other werden.Das only where there are no plates can slide the neck, groin and neck " plate "which are filled with a thick, soft foam.

This BA is individual for each major types adjustable, even I have to slip despite my typical male barrel no problems in this part.

for individual design allows the deep, throat and neck protection climbing down very easily.

The inside of the Defender 2 replica is very close to the original and as always, filled with individual foam panels.

The part is an absolute "must-have for any modern Russian player and I think that is something no one has at home would separate for the same amount again of it!

Here is a small picture on the man of mine:

And of course, the Real Steel Impressions with originals:
